About PERBETE
A cancer researcher turned hard-earned questions into personalized skincare right for everyone.
How it started
Jaemin Lee, a former cancer researcher, moved to the US from Korea. He watched young friends, in the prime of life, develop skin cancer, and began asking a simple, difficult question: what should people put on their skin? He screened cosmetic ingredients against IARC, EU CLP, US NTP, and California Prop 65, then made cosmetics with every classified ingredient removed. But removing classified ingredients was only the beginning. He built personalization technology that matches skincare to your skin tone and your answers, because skincare should fit the person using it. His Korean roots brought K-beauty routines into PERBETE too. Today, the mission is clear: make it easy for anyone to buy the right personalized skincare, shaped by individual differences and care.
What PERBETE does
- We read the ingredient lists of 9,694 products and check them against 21,551 ingredients in our dictionary.
- Every ingredient gets a word: low, moderate or high concern, or not enough data. The first three also get a color.
- A free 2-minute quiz matches a routine to your skin type, concerns, sun response and age.
- Ingredient colors and scores are always free. They never lock.
What PERBETE is not
We are not doctors. Our pages are research notes, not medical advice. If your skin worries you, see a dermatologist.
We are not a store. We link to stores, and some of those links earn us a fee. The fee never changes an ingredient's rating or color. Routine picks only include products we can link to a store, so a product with no store link is not picked. You can still look it up.
